TMA CHA Architects was recently retained to convert an emergency facility into an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).
In 2010, the State of Texas began issuing licenses for these facilities and they began popping up all over the state. Too many were developed for the market, and a number have closed or been purchased by hospitals.
We are determining if these ER facilities can be converted into an ASC at a reasonable cost – and so far, the answer is yes. We’re working on an emergency facility on Heritage Trace Parkway in Fort Worth. The final step is to test the existing HVAC equipment. Once done, we can complete our drawings and finalize the cost for conversion.
We’re hopeful this could be an option for other ER facilities.
